March 24: Saint Aldemar the Wise

St. Aldemar the Wise

History

Aldemar was a monk in part of Italy called Monte Cassino. The princess of that region built a convent and asked him to become the director. It was obvious that he was very close to God because God was able to use Aldemar to perform many miracles. But Aldemar didn’t have an easy time. His abbot assigned him to a different place, which made the princess angry. Then as Aldemar journeyed to his new home, one of his companions tried to kill him! Aldemar escaped and then kept his focus on doing the work the Lord wanted him to do, which was to start more religious communities.

Activity

Jesus warned His followers that following Him doesn’t mean that things will always be easy. Saint Aldemar knew that. Even when he did his best to stay out of a dispute, trouble came looking for him. But he just stayed true to Christ and kept doing what Jesus asked him to do. Today, memorize the second half of John 16:33 – words of Christ that will help you all your life! “In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!”

Saint Aldemar, pray for us!
