History

Saint Rupert was a bishop in Germany when the pope asked him to go to Bavaria to teach people about Jesus. Rupert was very faithful, and one of the first people in the town to convert was the duke. The duke gave Rupert land so he could build an abbey. Rupert also established the salt-mining industry, which helped the community prosper so much, they renamed it Salzburg (“Salt Town”).

Activity

One of the most beloved films about Catholics of all times was filmed in Salzburg: The Sound of Music. When you watch the movie today, enjoy the many beautiful scenes of Salzburg.

Saint Rupert of Salzburg, pray for us!
